At TheLumous, materials play a key role in how our lamps look, feel, and perform.
We use modern polymers suited for 3D printing to create lighting that is durable, lightweight, and expressive in form.

Our approach allows us to produce sculptural lamps efficiently while minimizing unnecessary waste.

Engineeredfor THELUMOUS

We collaborated with material scientists from ColorFabb to develop two distinct blends of Gantri Plant Polymers. Both blends are derived from non-GMO sugarcane sourced from Thai farms and are specifically engineered for different lighting applications.

Designed with Efficiency in Mind

3D printing allows TheLumous to create lighting in a more flexible way than traditional mass manufacturing.

Renewable
THELUMOUS uses renewable resources, reducing reliance on petroleum and helping to prevent resource depletion.
Lower emissions
Our PLA production reduces CO2 emissions by 75%, and our sugarcane-based processes further offset manufacturing emissions.
Biodegradability
THELUMOUS Plant Polymers biodegrade in industrial composting, preventing microplastic in the environment.
Less toxicity
Our GPP production avoids carcinogens, and our PLA is free from phthalates and BPA.

Opaque Material

Used for structural parts of the lamp.

Designed to provide:

This material gives our lamps their clean, sculptural appearance.
